moms rock...

my mom's high school senior picture

today is my mom's birthday. so this post is a hApPy BiRtHdAy shout-out to her.

being a mom myself, i have learned a lot about how truly great my mom is. everybody has the bestest mom ever. that's just how God is, He's cool like that.

my mom does everything for everybody. we have to make her do things for herself. her gift is to give and encourage and listen. she likes to see you smile.

now that i have my own children i realize how much i probably tore my mom up and drove her crazy as a kid. she probably worried herself to death about me. sorry, mom.

and i now realize that even when you do all that stuff that drives mom nuts, she (and only she, dads don't quite think like this) may want to just shake you silly but she looks at you and remembers your sweet-little-soft-baby-like-self and sighs because that's how she'll always see you. and she loves you silly instead.

me, as my sweet-little-soft-baby-like-self

thanks, mom. i love you so much.

autumn is in the air...

being serenaded with guitar accompaniment by the glow of a warm fire as we eat melted marshmellow-chocolaty s'mores...
actually, the bugs were biting, the weather was warm, we ate way too many burnt marshmellow messes as we avoided the wind-blown fire and listened to 80's rock songs from the talent of our teenage boys...but we loved every minute together.

on my mind...

brownies made by mary e for her granny's birthday...
why is it that i eat crap all weekend and my ibs flairs up so i go to the gym to work it all out and i buy plum digestive juice at the store and i declare that i am going to juice myself to death until i feel better and then i come home and eat brownies? i mean REALLY, what is wrong with me??? i am truly a glutton for punishment and i have no will power. it is sad. i did drink my juice. doesn't that count for something?

double rainbow...

isn't that so cool???

looks like it was made just for us. but if you go on facebook, the uploaded photos from all my friends show that it was made for everyone, for the two rainbows were over homes and buildings and interstates all over the city.

kinda gives you an understanding of how God works...

all places, all the time, all people. and we think He's just there with us.

cool.

the first day...

i do so wish the leaves looked like this, and that the weather was cooler...
if i have to go back to school, it shouldn't feel like summer.
my kindergartners painted green leaves yellow, orange, and red today and made leaf prints in honor of the season.
welcome back, autumn. hope to *see* you soon.

evening plans...

my evening consisted of...in no particular order...
dressing barbies in vintage retro outfits.
trying to wake up two hamsters so we could watch them run around.
creating friendship bracelets.
killing mosquitos. suddenly they are EVERYwhere.
having a head massage while i watched what not to wear.
eating chocolate ice cream cones.
hope you had a good evening, too.

time...

i'm not sure i'm going to ever get to blog again. or take pictures.

school has taken over our lives. again. *sigh*

we always seem to have a difficult time getting started back. we're all used to sleeping late and being leisurely, then WHAM, back into the briarpatch we are thrown.

but here's what we've managed to do lately...

* purchase two chinese dwarf hamsters, Nomi and Lily

* have a small fender-bender with our van and meet our next door neighbors all at the same time (no worries, nationwide is on our side)

* have a head cold that won't go away

* watch the gamecock football opener

so there we are. it's september.
