Even in muddy water...

you can see something worth looking at...not the best photo (my camera's batteries were dying!) but a nice "catch".

I keep looking at water (LOL!) and I was outside with my 4K class and as I told them not to play on the tire swing, I saw the reflection! Had to take a picture...

Daily water...

As a wife and mother, I use water on a daily basis in two ways...can you guess? It's really been great looking through my lens with a theme, because I am noticing things in my day that I may have never documented if not for the 2Ps 365 Challenge.

Living water...

Our middle son was baptized yesterday! He is very thoughtful about such things and after some study decided it was time. We were very overwhelmed with emotion for him, as was our minister (his favorite "buddy" at church) who baptized him. He was nervous and finally cracked a smile for me when it was over. A big step of faith...

Yes, the oldest does exist...

We do have three children, and this is our oldest son. Being a preteen, he's not as likely to let me take his picture. He made us very proud this weekend, as he had the supporting actor role in the middle school musical. He had a solo, and he lights up on the stage and surprises us with his "hidden" talent! The director actually wants to do voice lessons with him to prepare him for future performances. He also played starting shooting guard for his basketball team this weekend, and although they won and he scored only 2 points, he assisted quite a few other team mates in scoring. He has shown us this weekend that he knows how to be a team player, and we love to watch him shine! (Can't tell, can you?...) My shots are not the best, because I had no flash use in the musical and no light in the gym, but I got my memories on film!

POTD...Lights in my hometown...

Just some fun shots of lights...first is the cinema; second is the Christmas light show at the local park. I really like the cinema lights, they are very retro (even though it's a new building), and I tried to make them POP with some PS. We go to the lights at the park every year- you drive through, and there are hundreds of different scenes. It's a tradition...

Week 3 of 365 Project..

Well, I'm going to try to follow the ThreePeas 365 Photo Project List, just for fun, to get me to think out-of-the-box with my photo-taking this year. Week 3 is "your hometown", and since the week is almost up and I won't be going "downtown" this weekend, I thought I'd post some photos I took at Charlestowne Landing, the site where the English colonists in 1670 established the first permanent European settlement in the Carolinas. (Yes, I copied that from their website, www.charlestowne.org). These are of the new bridges, and I did touch-up light, color, and cloned (to get rid of skyline "debris").

It's cool to think they stood right where I was...I'm sure their skyline looked a lot different...

Ok, so I had another...

I had another Starbucks today...this time while working with a client. Inside...it's freezing and raining today. And it was a tall white chocolate mocha. But it was still on gift card!...aaahhh...I'm gonna get addicted.

and it didn't cost a dime- I had a gift card...aaahhh...

Another "color me pink" to add to the list...

We love going to Mullet Hall with my husband's family. It is very peaceful and very rustic, and we love sitting around doing nothing of significant importance for about five days. I took this picture last summer after we picked hydrangeas...another "color me pink". I removed the color on my photo software...cool effect.

We have a Girl Scout in our midst...and a saleswoman!

Our daughter is officially joining Girl Scouts tonight. That means she will say the Girl Scout promise and get her pin. She decided to stop dancing classes and sell cookies. Not a bad trade if you ask me. She was so excited about the cookies that we met the troop leader Friday and got the order form, and since Friday she has sold over 80 boxes of cookies! Here's the funny part- 14 of them were to the McDonald's employees (and one customer) as we were going through the drive-through! NO JOKE. She asked the guy at the checkout before I could stop her, and he wanted Trefoils. Then someone else yelled, HEY, I want some, too, and before I knew it we were inside collecting orders. And then a customer said he hadn't bought cookies in years- could he buy some, too? It was crazy. And, yes, they all paid up front. So all I have to do is drop off the delivery. Not too bad for a couple of Happy Meals.

Happy New Year!

Took these on New Year's Eve with my new camera set on fireworks mode. I was very pleased with the results, especially since as I took them I couldn't see a thing!!

Comment of the day...

We had popcorn at school for snack today. I overcooked it a tiny bit- it was a little brown, but definitely edible. One of my fours gets up with a piece in hand and walks to the trashcan...line of the day?...

"I think this one has a little bit of dirt in it, and I DON'T eat dirt."

Oh my.

Lego man...

Our middle child loves Legos. He is always building something. I decided that I needed to capture him with his favorite thing. These were my Friday photos. I love the one where you can see the reflection in the table. He was mad in that one b/c the Lego Star Wars people were NOT set up the way he thought they should be...made a great photo, though. I also played with focus, on him and then on the Legos. These are all in natural light, then edited a bit on software.

365 Project...

This is a photo blog project, where you take one photo for each day of the year. I learned about it January 4, a little late- I have pictures for the 2nd and 4th, but not the 1st and 3rd. So maybe I'll do the 365 EVEN Project...hhmm. I am going to try to post a photo every day, just maybe not taken on that day. I've got some good ones of our middle child today with his Lego men. Post probably tomorrow. Off to my brother's tonight. I'll try to link to some 365 Projects, too.

Cheetahlicious!

My daughter received Cheetah Girl concert tickets for Christmas. It was fun for her, and the Cheetahs are tasteful in their dance, music, and dress, which is nice. I was REALLY excited about these two Cheetah photos, we were pretty close to the stage. Hopefully I won't get arrested for posting them.

Palmetto Bible Camp in November...

I love this place...wish I had discovered it sooner in life...thanks, Tommy.

Four-year-olds are fun...

Remember I said I like their conversations?

Well, here's one from today...

We were watching the story of Courdoroy, about a teddy bear. The show used a "real" teddy bear, not a cartoon, and the kids were in awe because the bear was walking, running, climbing through the toy store. They thought that was SO cool (he basically was like a puppet). Suddenly, someone says, "Hey, but why isn't he talking??" and they all replied, "He can't talk, he's not REAL!" My co-teacher and I looked at each other with disbelief- like all the other stuff the bear was doing was TOTALLY natural?! It was funny.

I'm sure there'll be more. They are so honest. They crack me up.

Santa Baby...

Ain't he a cutie?? This is my nephew- we have two nephews on Larry's side and one on mine. I took these pictures of him right before Christmas. He happened to have on the perfect shirt- minus the drool. These were taken with my "old" camera, a Canon A80 (I love Canon). The previous posts were with my new camera, a Kodak ES Z612 IS. I was worried about switching brands, but so far so good. I'm hoping to learn more about working the manual controls.

I told you there would be more....
