...beating the rainstorm back to the beach house...

...going to historic fernandina after dinner for ice cream...

fernandina beach, day two...

the weather was wonderful today...it was actually very warm on the beach until late afternoon winds came in...

the locals here are very friendly and are willing to strike up a conversation...

the waves are not like home, where they are high and pound the surf...here they seem to be close to shore, which makes for less boogie boarding...

those shark teeth above? we found them all today...makes us wonder what's out there in that ocean...

the water is so clear that mary e had us run by walmart tonight after dinner to get a snorkel mask...she wants to see what's down there...hopefully not the above forementioned.

we ate tonight at Barbara Jean's, which we have at home in Mt. Pleasant...the shrimp and grits were yum, and david and i agreed that the key lime tart passed the test...

we are wiped out tonight.

the water is clearer and blue-er...

the sand is cleaner and whiter...

...and we're here for a whole week...just chillaxin'...

american girl party at b&n...

i took mary e and her friend to the american girl doll party today at b&n...mary e created her own costume to look like her doll, jess, and i thought she looked very much like she was from south america...

hit the thrift...

my sis-n-law and i hit the thrift today...

ok, we ALMOST bought these, but couldn't think of the last time that we had wished we had psychadelic pants. but i did have to have a photo.

i spent a grand total of $8.50...

two scarves, one of which seems vintage...

a puzzle (our new summer past time), a wooden shape puzzle for my kindergartners, a knit sundress (which will make a great swimsuit cover-up)...

and, TA-DA, an AWESOME, seems brand-new, instant Polaroid camera for only .99!!!

now if i could only find FILM that doesn't cost $2 a PRINT!!! argh.

just a little CaRiBbEaN vacation!!!...

i couldn't wait any longer to tell...

we are going on a cruise in august!!!

we were planning on going on our second cruise in summer 2010 for our 20th anniversary, but the deals right now are too good to pass up and i want some alone time on a sunny beach with white sand and blue water with my coach sal, so we are going in three weeks!!!

i took this photo on our first cruise in 2006...we will actually be taking the same cruise, but this time no shore excursions, only sitting and relaxing allowed...aaahhh...

i can't wait.
(really, i can't. i'm not sleeping very well, i'm so excited!)
